Characteristic Record- English/Spanish
The best way for parents to keep track of their child’s behavior is with a written record that they can share with teachers. It is not important to write down full sentences or ideas, just enough to recall later during parent-teacher conversations. The Characteristic Record for Parents form is provided for parents to use to record their notes.
Parents have a unique window into their child’s strengths, interests, and behaviors that may not always be visible in the classroom. The Characteristic Record for Parents is a simple tool designed to help you notice, capture, and reflect on the ways your child demonstrates characteristics often associated with giftedness in everyday life- at home, in the community, and during activities they enjoy.
This record is not a test or an evaluation. Instead, it’s a place to jot down brief observations as you notice them. You don’t need to write complete sentences or fill in every box- just enough detail to help you remember specific examples. These notes can be especially helpful when talking with teachers, counselors, or school staff about your child’s strengths, learning needs, and potential opportunities for support or enrichment.
By keeping a Characteristic Record, you are partnering with educators to share valuable insights that support a more complete understanding of your child as a learner.
